The Phoenix Suns are dealing with internal struggles, and their recent 107-96 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers only added to the growing concerns. On Sunday night, all eyes were once again on superstar Kevin Durant and head coach Mike Budenholzer as tensions between the two took center stage.
During a timeout in the first quarter, Durant was visibly frustrated and exchanged heated words with Budenholzer. The coach responded in kind, intensifying speculation about a possible divide within the team. While the exact cause of their argument remains unknown, the visible tension has fueled rumors of a fractured locker room.
This is not the first time Durant and Budenholzer have interacted tensely. In a previous game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the coach extended his hand toward Durant, but Durant pulled his arm away and briefly exchanged words. The repeated incidents suggest a growing disconnect between the two.
Durant is not the only player rumored to have issues with Budenholzer. Reports indicate that Devin Booker has also experienced tense moments with the head coach.
The Suns’ struggles, both on and off the court, appear to be taking a toll on team chemistry. Despite the confrontation, Durant still delivered a solid performance, finishing the night with 21 points, nine rebounds, and two assists.

The Boston Celtics are back in the States, riding a new win streak – perhaps buoyed by Lil’ B’s blessing. Topher Lane and Mark Allison break down the state of the Celtics in relation to the top of the East, the coming relaxed schedule, and whether the Cs have a curse to worry about as well. They’re also joined by Justin Quinn and Josh Coyne, who discuss Josh’s behind-the-scenes reporting from London’s O2 arena, where he got to speak to several players on both the Philadelphia 76ers, Celtics, Brad Stevens, the Starter’s Tas Melas, and even the man himself, Commissioner Adam Silver.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/celtics-lab-nba-basketball-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. Breaking down the many narratives of a Dallas Mavericks – Boston Celtics NBA finals
The Boston Celtics punched their ticket to the 2024 NBA Finals when they defeated the Indiana Pacers in just four games to win the league’s Eastern Conference finals, and now we have Boston’s finals opponent set with a winner for the Western Conference finals as well. That victor will be the Dallas Mavericks, who needed five games to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves in the West finals on this past Thursday (May 30) night. The matchup will be laden with narratives we have been hearing for years now, from Kyrie Irving and Kristaps Porzingis’ return, two oft-critiqued coaches being the last two playing, among many, many more. Ahead of a full preview, the hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast decided to take a tour of all the narratives we should be expecting — and which ones we think actually matter. This week, Mark Allison and Justin Quinn do the unwelcome task of dissecting the two first-round losses to the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Playoffs, as well as a quick look at the other results around the league. We also talk about some guy almost none of you remember who played less than a quarter of the least memorable Celtics seasons in history (trust us, there’s a reason), Ray Allen explaining why he didn’t accept an offer to return to the Celts, and much more.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/celtics-lab-nba-basketball-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy Learn more about your ad choices. After the previous heated exchange, both the head coach and Kevin Durant denied any tension between them. When asked about Durant’s on-court outburst against the Lakers, the head coach did the same.
“He’s always pushing us to win. He’s pushing us to be better. Trying to figure out the spacing. Sometimes figuring out the defensive. Are we putting two on the ball? And how we’re rotating. We have to figure it out; we have to be better,” Budenholzer said.
With the loss, the Suns dropped to a 31-37 record, sitting at the eleventh seed in the Western Conference. They have now lost six of their last ten games, and if the internal conflicts continue, their postseason hopes could slip away even furthe
